Finally the new flash came in the mail! I've been so excited to finally get this speedlite for my camera. The ability to have some off camera flash and just to light indoor pictures better is something I've been dreaming about for awhile now. My brother, who is getting married in April, was the perfect excuse to get this baby because his reception will be indoors. So my first experiment with the flash is this self picture I was trying to do for my blog biography. I wanted to use the wireless function of my camera to see what some off camera flash would look like. It's hard for me to judge a picture of myself objectively but I think the lighting looks pretty cool. Not bad for a picture taken of myself from the chair of my desk :) My only complaint is that I was wearing my glasses when I took it...

This was a really fun shoot! My brother was trying to figure a cute and memorable way to propose to his girlfriend. My wife and I helped him out by suggesting that we ask them to be models for a fake engagement session since I was just starting to get into photography. I must say that it worked like a charm. She had no idea that it was coming :) The last picture is actually the real proposal and her real reaction (we had her facing away from him while I was taking pictures and he was getting down on one knee. We then asked her to turn around because 'we wanted to try a different pose out.' Little did she know that her boyfriend was down on one knee ready to pop the question). Thanks for letting us be there for one of the most memorable moments of your life, Bri!
